More about TF-CBT Training AND TF-CBT Consultation Calls

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents (ages 3-18) who are experiencing negative impacts following any type of traumatic event.  Through this training, therapists will learn how to implement the model with fidelity and how to know who is appropriate for this treatment.  There will be opportunities for consultation regarding actual cases, to discuss challenges, and to share successes as children and families progress through the healing process.  This training will include two days of training in TF-CBT and 12 consultation calls (1 hour each).  These are steps that are required to provide TF-CBT and to become a Certified TF-CBT Therapist. This training is for licensed mental health therapists who intend to complete all of the required steps (see prerequisites and requirements when you follow the registration link). Participants must have a masters degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.  Graduate students in these programs or those working toward their license in these fields may be able to attend if they are receiving supervision from a licensed mental health professional.

More about Understanding and Assessing the Impact of Trauma on Children and Adolescents

Traumatic events are unfortunately prevalent in our society.  Interpersonal violence, tragic accidents, disasters, grief and loss can impact victims in a variety of ways.  Trauma symptoms can appear complex and can be easily misdiagnosed.  During this training we will discuss how trauma impacts children and adolescents across a variety of domains of functioning (emotionally, behaviorally, cognitively, developmentally). This training provides participants with a solid foundation regarding the impact of trauma on children and adolescents, how to assess for trauma symptoms, and an understanding of the complex symptoms that a child may exhibit and how to clarify their diagnosis so that they receive the appropriate intervention.  This training also includes information regarding trauma informed assessments, including interview techniques and the administration of trauma informed assessment measures.  This full day training is open to any mental health professionals working with children and adolescents.  This day of training is not required to participate in TF-CBT Training, but is strongly encouraged for those therapists who will be participating the TF-CBT Training process.
