TF-CBT 2-Day Training


Hillside Family of Agencies is pleased to invite you to the upcoming 2-day live training for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy!

This training will provide 11 CEU contact hours for LMSWs, LCSWs, LMFTs, and LMHCs.

Location:        St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry. 120 French Rd. Rochester,  NY 14618

Dates:             Thursday, November 14th and Friday, November 15th

Time:               9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days*

Cost:               $200 by check or money order made payable to Hillside Children’s Center

Space is limited and registration will close once the allotted slots are filled. Participants will be registered on a first come, first served basis.

*Note: A continental breakfast will be provided and 1 hour will be allocated for lunch each day.  You are welcome to utilize the refrigerator and microwave located at the building if you choose to bring your lunch. You also have the option of purchasing lunch off site and will be provided with a list of local places to eat that are nearby.

Goal of this Training

To provide educational and practical experiences that will prepare Master’s level therapists to practice Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the nature of the research that supports the efficacy of TF-CBT
  2. Understand key issues related to model fidelity and inclusionary and exclusionary criteria for TF-CBT
  3. Recognize the importance of respectful and empowering client engagement in the treatment process
  4. Understand the rationale behind each TF-CBT component and be able to use at least 3 tools or strategies for each of the model’s components

Pre-work is Required

Each participant is asked to complete the 11-hour TF-CBTWeb 2.0 online training at https://tfcbt2.musc.edu/ and submit your certificate of completion to trusso@hillside.com by November 12th. Completion of this course and submission of this certificate is needed in order for you to be able to participate in the live 2-day training. 

It is also recommended that each participant read the official manual for TF-CBT titled Treating Trauma and Traumatic Grief in Children and Adolescents (Second Edition) by Cohen, J.A, Mannarino, A.P, & Deblinger, E.

Post Training (Consultation Calls) 

Those interested in pursuing certification in TF-CBT will be provided with instructions by the trainer during the live training as to how to access the process for joining a consultation group at an additional cost. Participation in at least 9 of 12 monthly calls is another step toward certification.
