Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resilience Center (DHHCRC) is pleased to invite you to our upcoming Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) training for mental health clinicians who work with DHH children and families. ASL TF-CBT Training Flyer

TF-CBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach designed to treat symptoms of trauma related stressors in children and adolescents. This training package meets the required training and consultations for national TF-CBT certification. Please review the training details below to make sure the dates/requirements are still a fit for you.

Prerequisite: TF-CBTWeb ( https://tfcbt2.musc.edu/ ), is a prerequisite for attending this training. If you are accepted for this training, we will send you a code to use to complete TF-CBTWeb prior to the training in March.

In-person Training: The initial 12-hour training will be in person and ASL Interpreting will be provided from March 11 & 12, from 8:30am – 5:00pm EST at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. There also will be ASL fluent TF-CBT clinicians involved in training. Please email [email protected] by January 19, 2024 if you require accommodations.

Consultation Calls: After the in person training has completed, consultation training calls will occur bi-weekly during 1- hour virtual group consultation calls on 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 2pm-3pm EST/ 11am-12pm PST starting on March 20, 2024. Meetings take place every two weeks over the course of 6 months, and at least 80% of the meetings must be attended to qualify for certification.

Requirements: Trainees must be licensed or license-eligible clinicians in mental health, interested in becoming Certified TF-CBT providers, and have an active caseload of deaf and hard of hearing clients. Additionally, in order to complete the Consultation Training, trainees must see a child between ages of 3-20.

Agency/Supervisor Support: Because these types of trainings are a commitment, we strongly encourage trainees to obtain agency support for TF-CBT training, including TF-CBT materials, sufficient training time, appropriate space to deliver TF-CBT services, and referrals of at least 2-4 TF-CBT cases in the 6 months following the training. Attached is a Readiness Checklist that we encourage reviewing with your supervisor.
